We are excited to make this discovery as master's students and this gives us more enthusiasm to conduct further searches in India as part of LAI

This species is one of the classical examples of why some of India's frogs were not located after original descriptions due to lack of proper fieldwork |
|
The Dehradun Stream Frog was known only from the original description based upon a single specimen from “Chakrata, Uttar Pradesh” in 1985.
The rediscovery of this species from the original collection locality came after 25 years. It was rediscovered in 2011 by a team of graduate students, Sonali G, Gargi S and Pratyush from Delhi University, as part of their master’s thesis work led by LAI coordinator SD Biju and by
RG Kamei and Robin S.
The rediscovery was made in a highly degraded habitat nearby Tiger Falls in Chakrata, Uttarakhand. The frog is characterized by a light green dorsal colour with dark minute spots. More extensive field surveys are essential to determine the distribution range of this species.
Listed on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as Data Deficient (DD).
